Accommodating accommodations
For many years Project Amigo was operated from folding tables in the living room of the rented house of Ted Rose and Susan Hill in Cofradía. Not so any longer.
In 1999 a private home consisting of a complex of buildings around an inner courtyard became available for purchase down the street from Ted and Susan's home. Generous individuals contributed to the purchase and subsequent extensive remodeling of the buildings, which became known as "the Hacienda." The original donors were Project Amigo Board members Catherine Munson, Joyce and Clark Palmer, Frank and Kathie Mayhew; Dr. Robert and Sue Parks; Doug McGeorge and Janice Petty; Cass Sylvia and Craig Reynolds; and Project Amigo founders Ted Rose and Susan Hill.
The Hacienda is owned by Project Amigo, a California non-profit corporation. The remodel of the office space was completed in February 2000, and the guest quarters were first used by visitors in October of that year. Project Amigo is pleased to invite you to its headquarters and guest facility. We hope you will feel at home.
Hacienda meals
Breakfast is usually served from 8:30 till 9:00 am and is usually a time for announcements for volunteers. During work weeks, most meals will be provided at the Hacienda by local chefs in our state-of-the-art kitchen. Meatless dishes are always available, and we use organic produce at every opportunity. Guests who visit at times other than work weeks may request catered meals at the Hacienda (see below).
